Are you interested in learning modern calligraphy using a pointed pen?
Clare Morris, from dippygraphics, will be taking over the studio for some relaxing two-hour
evening workshops, where you’ll learn the basics of this wonderfully creative skill (and enjoy
some delicious cake!).
You’ll start by finding out about pens, nibs and paper, and you’ll then learn some key
strokes to put together to make letters. We’ll end the evening by joining the letters to
create some words and phrases and you’ll take away a name tag or a card, and hopefully
the desire to continue learning!
Don’t worry if you have terrible handwriting – calligraphy is more like drawing than writing,
so with practice, you will soon be creating some beautiful pieces.
This workshop is aimed at beginners, but if you have some experience already, it’s never a
bad idea to go over the basics again and pick up some new tips. If you’ve done some brush
pen calligraphy, but never picked up a pointed pen, then you’ll find the same rules apply,
but the pointed pen creates a very different look.
The price includes all materials (pen holder, nib, paper and card), but please bring along a
pencil, eraser and sharpener if you can (although there will be some available).
Workshops will take place between 6.30 and 8.30 on a Friday evening on these dates:
March 8th
April 12th
May 10th
June 14th
July 19th
August 9th
